we just cannot be alone

SETI@HOMEI’ve been wanting to do this for a long time… Dunno why I never did it before!

I’ve always been a staunch believer in the existance of Extra-Terrestial life. The idea that we are not alone in the universe is so compelling.

Think about it!

Anyways, The Search for Extra Terrestial Intelligence (SETI) is a quest to answer one of life’s most intriguing questions: Are we alone in the universe? The answer, either ways will definately have a drastic impact on human-kind!

SETI@home (“SETI at home”) is a distributed computing project using Internet-connected computers, hosted by the Space Sciences Laboratory, at the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States. SETI is an acronym for the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.

The goal of SETI@home is to detect intelligent life outside Earth. SETI@home searches for possible evidence of radio transmissions from extraterrestrial intelligence using data from the Arecibo radio telescope.

If you are interested to read more about this, you can visit: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/

Anyways, so SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

Basically what that means is you download the SETI@home software and run it on your computer, thus contributing to the computing power (of course in the idle time) to expand this project.

And I’ve just done that :)

I hope to see in my lifetime that we have made contact!

we sat and vacillated

For once, after the longest time I can remember…. i let my emotions go loose… and this is what came out:

so here we come again,
at closing doors
and opening windows gushing with the wind
the glass shatters
and we cry
but then there’s tommorow
a hope where the wind will stop blowing
and spring, springs again
only livng in fear, lets hope the wind doesn’t blow again

And so the end begins…

Here’s the song that i’ve been listening to most of the evening…. if you care to bother:

my foundation was rocked my tried and true way to deal was to vanish
my departures were old I stood in the room shaking in my boots
at that particular time love had challenged me to stay
at that particular moment I knew not run away again
that particular month I was ready to investigate with you
at that particular time

we thought a break would be good for four months we sat and vacillated
we thought a small time apart would clear up the doubts that were abounding
at that particular time love encouraged me to wait
at that particular moment it helped me to be patient
that particular month we needed time to marinate in what “us” meant

I’ve always wanted for you what you’ve wanted for yourself
and yet I wanted to save us high water or hell
and I kept on ignoring the ambivalence you felt
and in the meantime I lost myself
in the meantime I lost myself
I’m sorry I lost myself -i am

you knew you needed more time time spent alone with no distraction
you felt you needed to fly solo and high to define what you wanted
at that particular time love encouraged me to leave
at that particular moment I knew staying with you meant deserting me
that particular month was harder than you’d believe but I still left
at that particular time

Let’s Twit!

TwitterAs LifeHacker says it, Twitter is a service people love to hate (and secretly use)! So apt!

It’s an extremely simple concept! In the twilight of all the social networking sites, here’s one more which lets the world (or your friends) know what are you doing at any given point in time :)

It can link up to your mobile phone or your instant messaging system where even if you’re traveling, all you have to do is send an sms to the Twitter phone number and it is posted on your page on Twitter.

I signed up and invited Aalaap, Milind, Sattu, Gagan and the gang. Also was chatting to Urvi at that time and invited her too…

I activated the mobile version, of course as I thought it’s only purpose is to send messages to the Twitter service. A few hours later I was on the bus and I get an sms… Aalaap must have “Twitted” (lol that sounds funny!) and I got his “Twit” (ha! that’s even funnier)!

Nevertheless I was really impressed – that means it lets you know what you’re friends are upto directly on the phone… no need to log on to Twitter and update yourself :)

Wanna know what I’m upto time and again?
