Devesh Mistry’s Blog – Random Ramblings
I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time… Dunno why I never did it before!
I’ve always been a staunch believer in the existance of Extra-Terrestial life. The idea that we are not alone in the universe is so compelling.
Think about it!
Anyways, The Search for Extra Terrestial Intelligence (SETI) is a quest to answer one of life’s most intriguing questions: Are we alone in the universe? The answer, either ways will definately have a drastic impact on human-kind!
SETI@home (“SETI at home”) is a distributed computing project using Internet-connected computers, hosted by the Space Sciences Laboratory, at the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States. SETI is an acronym for the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.
The goal of SETI@home is to detect intelligent life outside Earth. SETI@home searches for possible evidence of radio transmissions from extraterrestrial intelligence using data from the Arecibo radio telescope.
If you are interested to read more about this, you can visit: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/
Anyways, so SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI).
Basically what that means is you download the SETI@home software and run it on your computer, thus contributing to the computing power (of course in the idle time) to expand this project.
And I’ve just done that :)
I hope to see in my lifetime that we have made contact!
Those who know me, know me… those who want to know me, get in touch!
Here you’ll find random ramblings, from irratic thoughts that come to my mind in wee hours, to opinions on books, movies, technology and everything that ignites my passion, be it even for a few minutes!
