sunday – whining day
21 Mar 2004 Author: Devesh at 1:52 pm In: Generalit’s about 1.50 pm… just woke up, had a couple of beers last night with sagar, ‘t was a long night. i’m feeling bad for ritesh (
ually is what i call “a whining day”. i tend not to go out or do anything on a sunday as the next day is work and after noon on sundays, the only thing on running on my head is, ‘aahhh another week… get up early, come back late’.
don’t get me wrong here though, i love my job. i think it’s tradition… have been doing this since forever so i think a pattern’s been developed here hehe.
i think i need another cup of coffee, this one’s gotten cold. i need to backup my system, can you believe it… a 250 gig harddrive and i hardly have a about 8-9 gig free!!! well, it’s so convenient to have everything on your harddrive at your beck-n-call. now i gotta back stuff up on dvds, and god thats irritating to look for. there’s this really small, excellent media cataloging tool called cathy (search for cathy in the page). you can use it to index files stored on removable media (CD-ROMs, LS120, Iomega Zip and Jaz disks, or even diskettes), hard disks or net drives, and create searchable catalogs that can be used without having access to original media.
so basically now i’ve gotta keep that updated :-

aw the streneous monthly branch meeting :(
anyways, we’re having a barbeque in the balcony at work today with drinks…. me just had about 2 beers so far… goddamn the sausages were cooked really well… they were a lil burnt but thats because the bbq blew up or something and they’re trying to get it fixed… hehe… but seriously so much better than the last time’s… i hope giudes doesn’t read this else he’s gonna kick my butt…. he was the one who cooked up the bb last time! this time it was alan … man that was good….
anyways, wendy was around taking pictures of everyone… and finally she got a picture of myself, mike and kayte together… i’ll probably get it on monday and then i’ll post it here :)

rahul and myself went on an expedition to look for an indian restaurant this afternoon around this area. since moving to surry hills, to get quality (& cheap) food, you have to bloody walk a mile, because everything else closest to our office, is either terrible, or really expensive :(
anyways, so we walked down all the way to oxford street, and found these 2 indian restaurants side by side. went to the second one… had a look at the menu… hmmm 3 curries with rice, medium, $6.50, wicked!!!! cheaper than north sydney too!!!!
anyways, i got myself some aaloo mattar, palak paneer and moong-ki-daal with rice… and then in the refrigerator, i found raita and lassi!!! lassi!!! haven’t had that since years… so picked it up too…man the food was simply amazing… relished it so much. but then the walk back kinda put me down :( i’ve got some lassi back, will ask kayte and mike to drink it, i’m sure they’ll like it… i wonder what you call lassi in english man??
everyone’s at lunch, man this place feels so quite suddenly… we’ve got our monthly branch meeting with goes on for 3-4 hours everyone once a month… and it’s today!!! :( i’m sure i’ll fall asleep… man after a perfect desi lunch, lassi and then to sit in a meeting continuous for 3-4 hrs … god thats torture!!!

lunch was amazing… had one of the bestest steaks’ i’ve ever had in my life (bloody costed my $19.90 though)… and 2 pints of guinness!
mike was thrilled with his gift. anyways, it was a good afternoon.
had a chat with rahul. he’s complaining about his new manager now too. finding it difficult to liaise with her. i reckon in time it should be fine, which is what i told him. i guess whenever there are role changes or management shuffles, there tends to be a lot of friction between you and the new manager…
hmm… i started this post at about 3.10pm and it’s 5.20pm now! so many interruptions, it’s not funny.
i want to go home… for some reason today feels like a friday :(
